New Jersey Scholarships
Here's a list of what's available:

Edward J. Bloustein Distinguished Scholars
Provides $1,000 to exceptional NJ students who rank in the
top 10% of their classes and have a combined SAT score of 1260 (regardless
of their financial need). |

Urban Scholars
Provides $1,000 to exceptional NJ students attending NJ colleges
in urban and economically distressed areas. Students must rank in
the top 10% of their classes and have a minimum grade point average
(GPA) of 3.0 (regardless of financial need). |
|
Outstanding Scholar Recruitment Program
Up to $7,500 per year to outstanding NJ students at participating New Jersey educational
institutions. |
|
Survivor Tuition Benefits Program
Provides free tuition at New Jersey educational institutions for the spouses and
dependants of law enforcement officers, fire fighters, or other emergency services
personnel who were killed in the line of duty. |
|
Dana Christmas Scholarship for Heroism
Provides up to $10,000 to recognize young New Jerseyans for
exceptional acts of heroism in honor of Dana Christmas, the late Seton
Hall student who is credited with saving the many lives of her fellow
students during a fire on January 19, 2001. |
|
New Jersey World Trade Center Scholarship Fund
Provides up to $6,500 per year for college studies to the surviving spouses
and dependant children of New Jersey residents who died as a result of the terrorist
attacks against the United States on September 11, 2001. |
|
Law Enforcement Officer Memorial Scholarship Programs
Provides scholarships to the dependent children of New Jersey law enforcement officers
who have died in the line of duty, for full-time undergraduate studies at accredited NJ
educational institutions. |

NJSTARS
Provides free college tuition (plus associated fees) at one
of 19 New Jersey colleges for up to five semesters to outstanding
NJ high school seniors who graduate in the top 20 percent of their
class. |

New Jersey Commission on Higher Education
The following financial aid programs are administered by the
New Jersey Commission on Higher Education,
and are available to students residing in the State of New Jersey.

Educational Opportunity Fund
The New Jersey Educational Opportunity Fund Grant awards up to $1,300
per year to disadvantaged NJ undergraduate students, and up to $2,750
to disadvantaged NJ graduate students attending a New Jersey college
or university full-time. |

The Special Needs Grant Program
The Special Needs Grant Program is a New Jersey state-sponsored initiative that allocates
about $1.1 million annually to support centers for visually and auditorily impaired
students, and learning disabled students. |
|
Education of Language Minority Students Grant Program
Education of Language Minority Students Grant Program allocates $600,000
annually to support and develop language programs for New Jersey minority
students. |
|
The College Bound Grant Program
The College Bound Grant Program provides financial assistance totaling
$2.9 million annually to educational institutions engaged in
helping urban and minority students in grades 6 through 12. |
|
High-Tech Workforce Excellence Grants
The New Jersey Commission on Higher Education awards grants to specific NJ colleges and
universities for the development of technology-related programs designed to satisfy the
ongoing demand for qualified high-tech workers in the state of New Jersey. |
|
Teacher Effectiveness Grants and Teacher Quality and Capacity Grants
The Teacher Effectiveness Grant Program provides $17 million
to public and private New Jersey educational institutions to enhance
the quality of teacher preparation programs, which result in greater
teacher effectiveness in the classroom. |
|
Teacher Preparation Grants
The New Jersey Teacher Preparation Grant provides $3 million to NJ colleges and universities
to maintain a high number of highly trained teachers to effectively teach math, science,
special education, preschool, and literacy in urban schools. |
