The General Services Administration (GSA) and other Federal agencies dispose of surplus Federal property by lease, permits, sale, exchange, or donation. Competitive bid sales are open to the general public.

15.214 Non-Sale Disposals of Mineral Material - Objective: To permit free use of certain mineral material from federally owned lands under the jurisdiction of the Bureau by governmental units and nonprofit organizations. Click here for more information

15.918 Disposal of Federal Surplus Real Property for Parks, Recreation, and Historic Monuments - Objective: To transfer surplus Federal real property for public park and recreation use, or for use of historic real property. Click here for more information

16.578 Federal Surplus Property Transfer Program - Objective: To transfer or convey to State and local governments and territories, at no cost, surplus real and related personal property determined by the Attorney General to be required for correctional facility or law enforcement use for programs or projects for the care or rehabilitation of criminal offenders, as approved by the Attorney General. Law enforcement knowledge, skills, and abilities will be enhanced to address law enforcement needs within the jurisdiction.

General Services Administration conducts the sale of personal property for most of the civil agencies; the Department of Defense handles the sale of its own surplus property.
