I Want YOU to Have This Money! The federal assistance programs on this page provide vocational and postsecondary educational scholarships and grants to K-12 students, undergraduate and postgraduate college students, educators, colleges, universities and faculty.

A host of federal agencies (including the Department of Education, the Department of Agriculture, and the Department of Defense) provide research grants, scholarships, fellowships, internships, student exchanges, and study abroad programs to train in areas of national need.

Up to $35,000 in grants to U.S. citizens for educational exchanges in other countries.

Up to $80,000 in grants to U.S. educational professionals for educational exchanges in other countries.

$5,500 grants to individuals to improve the teaching and learning of English around the globe through short-term projects.

$4,000 scholarship to U.S. undergraduates to pursue study abroad.

$27,000 grants to provide opportunities for graduate students to engage in full-time dissertation research abroad in modern foreign language and area studies with the exception of Western Europe.

Medical Studies

$157,698 grants to medical schools to promote the post-graduate education of physicians in preventive medicine.

$15,151 scholarships to provide traineeships for licensed registered nurses enrolled as full-time students beyond the twelfth month of study in a master's nurse anesthesia program.

Up to $69,500 in grants to help repay health education loans in return for service to particular populations.

$209,071 in grants to provide or improve access to health care in rural areas.

Up to $1,250,000 in education loans as an incentive for health professionals to work in areas of reproductive research.

$22,331 grant to recruit and retain health professionals performing research in fields required by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

$1,065 scholarship to assure an adequate supply of primary care physicians, certified nurse midwives, certified family nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.

$59,400 grant to increase educational opportunities for students in need of financial by providing long-term, low-interest loans.

$1,920 scholarships to assist students in need of financial assistance to study nursing by providing long-term, low-interest loans.

$25,524 grant to support eligible students enrolled in accredited graduate programs in health or hospital administration.

$71,642 in grants to support traineeships for students in graduate educational programs at accredited schools of public health.

$18,000 grant to address the serious shortage of nurses at health facilities in certain areas of the United States.

$12,317 grant to attract and retain disadvantaged health professions faculty members for accredited health professions schools of medicine, nursing, osteopathic medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, podiatric medicine, optometry, veterinary medicine, public health, allied health or graduate programs in behavioral and mental health practice for at least two years.

Money paid to institutions on behalf of students

The Federal Government allocates a certain amount of money to educational institutions and organizations in order to provide the following opportunities for students. Students will need to apply directly to the institutions receiving the funds.

Up to $3,000,000 in grants to States to provide education awards for qualified postsecondary education expenses in exchange for part-time or full-time service.

Up to $500,000 in grants to State and local governments to build the ethic of service among Americans of all ages and backgrounds.

Up to $1,500,000 in grants to nonprofit organizations to establish an Internship Program which will provide unique opportunities for cooperative study, research, and development in the environmental arena.

$301,024 grants to colleges and universities to promote training activities which foster future employment in the the Federal Government.

Up to $200,000 in grants to accredited educational institutions to provide Americans with an understanding of less commonly taught languages and cultures.

Up to $500,000 in grants to educational institutions to provide foreign language training to Americans.

$395,000 grants to educational institutions to provide information on financial and academic assistance available for qualified adults desiring to pursue a program of postsecondary education.

$2,500 scholarships to provide stipends and expenses for summer interns at watershed organizations.

Up to $225,000 in grants to eligible wildlife agencies for the enhancement of hunter, bow, and archery education programs.
