Need Based Scholarships

Assistance League of the Triangle Scholarship Program
$1,000 scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors
residing in the Research Triangle area to enroll in North Carolina
educational institutions. |

Aubrey Lee Brooks Scholarships
Up to $7,300 in scholarships are awarded to graduating North
Carolina high school seniors to enroll in North Carolina educational
institutions. |
 |
Board of Governors Dental Scholarship Program (BGDS)
Up to $5,000 plus fees for financially needy North Carolina students enrolled
in the UNC School of Dentistry. Students must agree to practice dentistry in North
Carolina. |
 |
Board of Governors Medical Scholarship Program (BGMS)
Up to $5,000 plus fees for financially needy North Carolina students enrolled in one of four
North Carolina medical schools: Duke University School of Medicine, East Carolina University
School of Medicine, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine and
the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Students must agree to practice medicine in
North Carolina. |

Council for Exceptional Children
Up to ten scholarships per year of $500 are awarded to talented
disabled students enrolling in postsecondary education or training
institutions for the first time. |

Golden LEAF Scholars Program - Two-Year Colleges
$2,050 grants awarded financially needy North Carolina students
to enroll in any of 58 member educational institutions in the North
Carolina Community College system. |

Golden LEAF Scholarship - Four-Year University Program
$3,000 scholarships awarded to financially needy North Carolina
students to enroll in one of 16 North Carolina universities. |

Jagannathan Scholarships
$3,500 scholarships awarded to graduating North Carolina high
school seniors to enroll in a full-time degree program at the University
of North Carolina. |
 |
North Carolina Bar Association Scholarship (NCBA)
Up to $2,000 per year awarded to North Carolina students who
are the children of law enforcement officers killed or disabled in
the line of duty. |

North Carolina Millennium Teacher Scholarship Loan Program
$6,500 scholarships are awarded to excellent North Carolina
high school seniors of financial need who are interested in teaching
in North Carolina public schools. |

North Carolina Student Incentive Grant (NCSIG)
$700 grants are awarded to financially needy North Carolina
full-time students. |
 |
North Carolina Veterans Scholarships
$4,500 scholarships awarded to the children of deceased or
disabled veterans to enroll in North Carolina state-supported educational
institutions. |
 |
North Carolina 4-H Development Fund Scholarships
Up to $2,500 in scholarships awarded to excellent North Carolina
undergraduate students. |

NC Community College Grant & Loan Program
Grants of varying amounts are awarded every year to financially needy North Carolina
students enrolled at North Carolina community colleges. |

Progress Energy Scholarship Program
Scholarships of varying amounts are awarded every year to financially needy North Carolina
students enrolled at eligible NC community colleges. |

Rehabilitation Assistance for the Blind and Visually Impaired
Grants of varying amounts are awarded to financially needy North Carolina students who are legally blind or visually impaired. |

State Contractual Scholarship Fund Program (SCSF)
Scholarships of varying amounts are awarded every year to financially needy North
Carolina students to enroll in a private postsecondary educational institution
in North Carolina. |

State Employees Association of North Carolina (SEANC) Scholarships (Need-Based)
Up to $1,000 scholarships are awarded to NC students who demonstrate
either financial need, academic excellence, or good character. |
 |
The University of North Carolina Need Based Grant
Grants of varying amounts are awarded to eligible North Carolina students attending
one of the 16 campuses at the University of North Carolina. |
 |
Vocational Rehabilitation Program
Up to $2,428 per year in financial aid to individuals with
a mental or physical disability that would impair their ability to
obtain employment. |
 |
Wachovia Technical Scholarship Program
$500 scholarships awarded to 2nd year North Carolina students
who are enrolled in a two-year program at a North Carolina community
college. |
Merit Based Scholarships
 |
Dottie Martin Teachers Scholarship
$500 to North Carolina college students who want to become
teachers. |
 |
GlaxoSmithKline Opportunity Scholarships
Up to $5,000 per year in scholarships to residents of Chatham,
Durham, Orange, or Wake Counties in North Carolina. |
 |
Latino Diamante Scholarship Fund
$500 to graduating North Carolina high school seniors who plan
to attend North Carolina educational institutions. |
 |
North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA)
Up to $5,000 to North Carolina accounting students enrolled
in North Carolina educational institutions. |
 |
North Carolina Education and Training Voucher Program
Up to $5,000 per year to North Carolina college students who
are under 21 years of age, and were adopted out of previous foster
care as a child. |
 |
North Carolina Hispanic College Fund Scholarship
Up to $2,500 per year to Hispanic/Latino North Carolina students
who are interested in public service and community development. |
 |
North Carolina Restaurant Association Hospitality Educational Foundation Scholarship
Up to $1,500 for North Carolina undergraduate students pursuing
a degree in the culinary arts, hospitality management or tourism.

NC Teaching Fellows Scholarship Program
Up to $6,500 to outstanding North Carolina graduating high
school seniors to enroll in a ten-point teacher recruitment plan administered
by the Public School Forum of North Carolina. |

Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program
$1,500 per year to North Carolina high school graduates who
plan to enroll in eligible postsecondary educational institutions
in the United States. |
 |
Robert Franklin Black Scholarship
Up to $2,000 per year to North Carolina high school graduates
who either have a parent or legal guardian working for “Juki Automation”,
or has a parent or legal guardian residing in Wake, Durham, Orange,
or Chatham counties in North Carolina. |

State Employees Association of North Carolina (SEANC) Scholarships (Merit-Based)
$1,000 per year in scholarships is available to North Carolina
“SEANC” members, their spouses and/or dependants. |
 |
Teacher Assistant Scholarship Fund (TASF)
Up to $4,800 per academic year to certified North Carolina
teaching assistants to enroll in an approved teacher education program
at a North Carolina educational institution. |

North Carolina Vietnam Veterans, Inc. Scholarship Program (NCVVI)
$500 scholarships awarded to Vietnam veterans and their families
who reside in either Wake County, Durham, Harnett, Lee, Franklin,
Nash, Chatham, Johnson, or Granville counties in North Carolina. |

NC Legislative Tuition Grant Program (NCLTG)
Grants of varying amounts are awarded to eligible North Carolina students to enroll
full-time as an undergraduate student at an approved North Carolina college or university.

NC Sheriffs Association Undergraduate Criminal Justice Scholarships
$2,000 scholarships are awarded to North Carolina undergraduate
students majoring in criminal justice. |

Philippians Foundation Scholarship
$1,000 per year to North Carolina college student who are dependants
of parents or a legal guardian who is stricken with Amyotrophic Lateral
Sclerosis (ALS). |
 |
Shaver-Hitchings Scholarship
$2,000 scholarships to North Carolina graduate students who
reside in Durham, Orange, Wake, or Chatham counties of North Carolina,
and wish to volunteer their time to help others suffering from drug
and alcohol addiction. |
 |
State Employees' Credit Union Foundation "People Helping People"
Scholarship - Community College Program
Up to $5,000 to financially needy North Carolina high school
graduates who will enroll in one of 58 of North Carolina community
colleges. |
 |
State Employees' Credit Union Foundation "People Helping People" Scholarship - Public University Program
Up to $10,000 to North Carolina high school graduates who will
enroll in one of 16 affiliated campuses of the University of North
Carolina. |
 |
Winston-Salem Foundation
$2,000 scholarships to North Carolina college students who
reside in Forsyth County, NC, and are either disabled or plan to work
with disabled students. |
