The Transportation Services program develops and
promotes efficient agriculture transportation systems to help improve farm
income, expand exports and meet the needs of rural America. The program
provides technical and administrative direction, coordination, and leadership
in the development and execution of agricultural transportation policies.
Transportation Services provides a basis for Federal-State decision-makers in
regulatory, policy and legislative matters in order to assure the
transportation needs of rural communities and agriculture.

Assistance provided where it is determined that there is a significant
regional impact at stake or a significant policy at issue with potentially

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Applicant Eligibility: Any State government, public
and private organization and institution, business and industry, or individual
may apply for technical assistance or service. State, trade associations,
universities, and nonprofit organizations may be eligible for cooperative
agreements.
Beneficiary Eligibility: Producers, processors,
and general public.
Pre-application Coordination: None. This program is
excluded from coverage under E.O. 12372.

Ten major research projects/studies were completed, 33 workshops and 20
publications were completed in fiscal year 2001. It is estimated that 9
research projects, 22 publications, and 30 workshops/conferences, will be
completed in fiscal year 2002. Also, it is estimated that 10 research
projects, 15 publications, and 20 workshops/conferences, will be completed in
fiscal year 2003.
