Farming
The
U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) administers the following programs for
eligible farmers and ranchers to make efficient use of their land, as well as
provide loans and grants to producers who suffer losses due to natural disasters.

10.054 Emergency Conservation Program - Objective: To enable farmers to perform emergency conservation measures to control wind
erosion on farmlands and rehabilitate farmlands damaged by wind erosion, floods,
hurricanes, or other natural disasters. |

10.075 Special Apple Program - Objective: To assist producers of apples that are suffering from economic loss as a result of low prices for apples.

10.167 Transportation Services - Objective: To develop and promote efficient agriculture transportation systems to help improve farm income, expand exports and meet the needs of rural America.

10.404 Emergency Loans - Objective: To assist established (owner or tenant) family farmers, ranchers and aquaculture
operators with loans to cover losses resulting from major and/or natural disasters.

10.406 Farm Operating Loans - Objective: To enable operators of not larger than family farms through the extension of
credit and supervisory assistance, to make efficient use of their land, labor,
and other resources, and to establish and maintain financially viable farming
and ranching operations.

10.407 Farm Ownership Loans - Objective: To assist eligible farmers, ranchers, and aquaculture operators, including
farming cooperatives, corporations, partnerships, and joint operations, through
the extension of credit and supervisory assistance.

10.437 Interest Assistance Program - Objective: To provide a 4 percent subsidy to farmers and ranchers, who do not qualify for
standard commercial credit. Guaranteed loans are serviced by a lender who has
entered into a Lenders Agreement with the agency.

10.450 Crop Insurance - Objective: To assist producers of apples that are suffering from economic loss as a result of low prices for apples.

10.454 Dairy Options Pilot Program - Objective: The purpose of the Dairy Options Pilot Program (DOPP) is to educate dairy
producers in the use of options contracts as risk management tools and to
ascertain the usefulness of options to dairy producers in various regional
markets.

10.900 Great Plains Conservation - Objective: To conserve and develop the Great Plains soil and water resources by providing
technical and financial assistance to farmers, ranchers, and others in planning
and implementing conservation practices.

10.912 Environmental Quality Incentives Program - Objective: Technical, education, and financial assistance to eligible farmers and ranchers
to address soil, water, and related natural resource concerns on their lands in
an environmentally beneficial and cost-effective manner.

10.051 Commodity Loans and Loan Deficiency Payments - Objective: To improve and stabilize farm income, to assist in bringing about a better
balance between supply and demand of the commodities, and to assist farmers in
the orderly marketing of their crops.

10.053 Dairy Indemnity Program - Objective: To protect dairy farmers and manufacturers of dairy products who through no
fault of their own, are directed to remove their milk or dairy products from
commercial markets because of contamination from pesticides which have been
approved for use by the Federal government.

10.056 Farm Storage Facility Loans - Objective: To encourage the construction of on farm grain storage capacity and to help
farmers adapt to identity preserved storage and handling requirements for
genetically enhanced production.

10.066 Livestock Assistance Program - Objective: To provide direct payments to eligible livestock producers who suffered grazing
losses due to drought, hot weather, disease, insect infestation, fire,
hurricane, flood, fire, earthquake, severe storm, or other disasters during the
2000 crop year.

10.073 Crop Disaster Program - Objective: The Acts authorizes the Secretary to provide disaster assistance to producers
who suffered crop losses in the 2000 crop year because of adverse weather
conditions.

10.350 Technical Assistance to Cooperatives - Objective: To develop and administer research, technical assistance, statistical, and
educational programs on financial, organization, management, legal, social, and
economic aspects of farmer cooperatives.
