The Department of Energy and the Nuclear Regulatory Committee conduct initiatives to promote  energy conservation and develop energy-saving inventions, address key issues affecting the future world-wide use of nuclear energy, and to development efficient disposal repositories for high-level radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel.

15.927 Hydropower Recreation Assistance - Objective: To serve as a national technical resource to support government, industry, and nonprofit partnerships in ongoing consultations and negotiations about applications for hydropower licensing; to meet present and future outdoor recreation needs; to maintain and enhance a project's riparian areas.

81.022 Used Energy-Related Laboratory Equipment Grants - Objective: To assist United States institutions of higher education in equipping their science and engineering laboratories for energy-related research and/or instructional purposes. Click here for more information

81.036 Inventions and Innovations - Objective: To encourage the development and commercialization of energy-saving inventions by providing financial and technical assistance to projects that have a potential for significant energy savings and future commercialization markets through a competitive solicitation process. 81.039 National Energy Information Center - Objective: To serve as the central Energy Information Administration (EIA) office for providing energy information and assistance in support of Federal agencies, State and local governments, the academic community, industrial and commercial organizations, and the general public. 81.041 State Energy Program - Objective: To promote the conservation of energy and reduce the rate of growth of energy demand by authorizing Department of Energy (DOE) to establish procedures and guidelines for the development and implementation of specific State energy conservation programs; and to provide Federal financial and technical assistance to States in support of such programs.

81.042 Weatherization Assistance for Low-Income Persons - Objective: To insulate the dwellings of low-income persons, particularly the elderly, persons with disabilities, families with children, high residential energy users, and households with a high energy burden, in order to conserve needed energy and to aid those persons least able to afford higher utility costs.
